At a time when many residents feel more anxious about safety, this technology helps to protect the public and strengthens the work of neighbourhood officers. 
The live facial recognition van behind me scans for serious offenders who are wanted by police. Within a short period of use it flagged three individuals on the watch list, allowing officers to step in quickly and carry out the necessary checks. 
This means faster responses, reduced risk and greater reassurance for local people.
