Do I know enough to stand for election?

Don’t underestimate your own abilities. Each councillor will have something different to offer the council and you will not be expected to take direct responsibility for running the council on the first day that you are elected. Your main qualifications are a genuine concern for the community and a willingness to learn. Knowledge and experience will soon follow.

Have I the time to be a councillor?

The time commitment involved in being a councillor will vary depending on the responsibilities you decide to take on. Many councillors have work and family commitments as well as other interests which they successfully balance with their role as a councillor. If you are interested in finding out more about what might be involved, we want to hear from you, please contact us.
